How the world's first idol-free temple came to be
A 10-acre Mahateerth in Banur where devotion is measured not by idols worshipped, but by parents honoured and Gau Mata served.
How it began
As joint families gave way to old-age homes and Gau Mata was left to face slaughter despite our reverence for her, one seeker asked a simple question: what if a temple existed where no idol stood — only living parents and living cows to be honoured? That question became this Dham.
The founder
Shri Gian Chand Walia· Gauchar Das Gian Ji
A disciple of Brahmarshi Sri Devdas Ji Maharaj and blessed by Devraha Baba, Gauchar Das Gian Ji felt every cry of an abandoned cow as personal pain. From that resolve grew a movement that today shelters ~400 desi gauvansh and is building the world's first temple with no deity — only mothers and fathers to be worshipped.

The idol-free idea
Across the world, temples are built to house deities carved from stone. This one is built to house the two who gave you life and the mother who fed generations of India — your parents, and Gau Mata. No idol is installed. Devotees are asked instead to touch the feet of their own mother and father, and to serve a living cow. That, the founder teaches, is where God actually lives.
